Settled is a charity that gives free, multilingual, expert advice to Europeans across the UK – on the EU Settlement Scheme since 2019, and on Ukraine visa schemes since 2022. We help people to apply for (pre)settled status and visas, and then to access associated rights such as welfare benefits, employment, and housing. Find out more about our advice services at settled.org.uk

‘Settled Culture’ is our exciting new development from 2024. Being ‘settled’ is a very important legal right, but the word obviously means more than that – it also suggests safety, stability, space to feel alive, to enjoy, to express, to share one’s ‘culture’.

Europeans in the UK are wonderfully diverse of course – from a wide range of countries and ethnicities, including mixed heritages; many have been here for decades or generations, whilst others have arrived more recently; and every individual is different, in terms of demographic identities, levels of integration, and unique cultural expressions.

Music or cuisine, comedy or photography, local heritage events or international festivals... Whatever the form, Settled Culture is here to celebrate and promote the plays, gigs, exhibitions, small businesses even, of Europeans living in the UK – through clear listings, and interviews/articles. Please jump in and enjoy what you discover!

One goal in collecting and showcasing grassroots cultural outputs is to help European artists and their communities gain exposure and recognition. And we also want to help everyone – British people and other migrants – to become more familiar with the people and cultures living alongside them. Positive community cohesion is really important; as also the simple delight of discovering new food, music, theatre, comedy, or being positively challenged by it!

Settled Culture is initially being piloted in Wales, as our head office is in Newport. We hope to expand to cover the rest of the UK soon.

If you’re a European artist (stand up or street food, photographer or fiddle player); or you promote Europeans in your venue; or maybe you just know a performer that we’ve missed – please submit listings here for free exposure. We’re happy to hear from everyone.
