Have you been longing for delicious foods from your homeland? You're in luck! The UK is home to a vibrant Eastern European community, which provides a chance to enjoy authentic cuisine.

This diverse diaspora enriches the UK's cultural landscape, and many have even formed friendships or found partners along the way. Yet, nothing compares to a treat that brings back memories of your school days and connects you to home.

In Wales, particularly in cities like Cardiff and Newport, you'll find a variety of shops that offer the familiar flavours you crave. In this article, we’ll highlight some fantastic Eastern European shops in Cardiff, perfect for those seeking authentic products from the region.

1. Wally's Delicatessen

Our first stop is Wally’s Delicatessen, located at 38-42 Royal Arcade, CF10 1AE, in Cardiff's city centre. While not entirely Eastern European-focused, this shop sells a wide range of imported goods. It is a long-established, quirky deli with charcuterie, cheese, and Mediterranean and East European foods, and it's well be worth a try, given its outstanding reviews and location in the beautiful Cardiff arcades.

"The layout is of a traditional European deli. The smells that allude to this place are amazing. The strong cheese wrestles with the cooked smells of the beautiful meat as the olives tug at their trousers to get some attention. Truly wonderful and worth a visit alone."

2. Delikatesy Miś

Delikatesy Miś is at 176 Clare Rd, Cardiff, CF11 6RX. This store has been praised for its wonderful staff; some users have stated it’s the best Polish shop in Cardiff. Additionally, you can sit down and relax while enjoying freshly made coffee and baked goods.

"A lovely place to sit and have a coffee in Grangetown. So glad I found it! Lovely place for a coffee in Grangetown. A great find!"

"This place is an absolutely amazing hidden gem. They have an incredible selection of Polish deli meats and cheeses, all for really good prices. The fresh bread was also amazing, but the selection of baked goods probably stood out to me. I had never tried Polish cheesecake before, but I was immediately a fan. I will definitely be returning."

3. Bulgarian Food Cardiff

Bulgarian Food Cardiff, located at 36 Tudor St, Cardiff CF11 6AH. As the name indicates, this shop offers a mostly Bulgarian range of products but also offers Eastern European foods in general. It's reasonably priced, too!

It scores 4.6/5 stars on Google reviews, with some users highly recommending their pickles!

"Loved the pickles!"
